    African- American Club

    The African American Club members learn about the heritage, culture, and contributions of African Americans. The club is open to all students, and student members of the club plan, lead and participate in a variety of activities throughout the year.

    Anime Club

    Anime club is a place for students to explore their interest in anime. Students are welcome to read manga, watch anime, create cosplay, draw their favorite characters, and find many other ways to enjoy anime fandom. The club also takes at least one field trip to a local anime convention.

    Art Club

    The Art Club works to enrich and to enhance the art instruction provided at the high school and to provide students with additional opportunities to express themselves through the visual arts.

    Book Club

    Book Club is hosted on Tuesdays during lunch periods. Members meet during their designated lunch hour and read a variety titles & genre. Students and staff interested, sign up in the library!

    Cheerleading;

    The Proviso East cheerleaders cheer at all Football and Basketball games.


    Chess

    The Chess Team at Oak Park and River Forest High School exist to provide students with an opportunity to play chess at either a friendly or competitive interscholastic level. Players of all ability and interest levels are welcome at practice.

    Debate Club

    The debate club is great place for students to explore the art of "organized arguing." Students in debate club tend to enjoy discussing current issues and if they don't already have a strong voice and good presentation skills, they will learn these abilities in a fun, safe club environment. Students learn to create factual/logical, ethical and emotional arguments to persuade others in the club that their "side" is correct. The club uses the formal debate format. The club's purpose is to teach and train students in the fundamentals of debate and public speaking.

    Ecology

    This club is a place for all students interested in environmental issues and concerns. Students are encouraged to develop and use their leadership skills while making Proviso East , local and international areas a bit more “Green” through student developed projects. Plan to be engaged in some activity on a weekly basis. The only qualification is interest and a commitment for change.

    Flag and Rifle Team

    Flag and Rifle class develops leadership abilities through trust, communication, and cooperation. The class is designed to show basic movement skills, stand routines, parade routines, and filed show fundamentals. This class is offered to students who would like to become a member of the flag, rifle, majorette, twirling, and dance sections. This team is open to all class levels.

    Girl League

    Girl League is designed to increase self-motivation and self-esteem among high school teenage girls. Members of girl league experience personal growth through communication with each other. Throughout the school year conferences are held for Girls only.

    G.R.A.C.E

    The members of G.R.A.C.E. learn etiquette and manners appropriate in today’s society. This club is open to all students.

    Intermural (The Voice)

    In addition to interscholastic sports, Proviso East offers intramurals and open gym. Students may participate in a variety of activities after school. Intramurals are offered in the following: Three on Three basketball, 7 on 7 football, spoken word.   You can play the sports or help plan the events and referee!

    Key Club

    Key Club is a service leadership organization for high school students.  The club’s objective is the development of initiative, leadership ability and good citizenship practices.

    Spring and Fall Plays

    Members participate in all aspects of the theater production, as actors and members of the stage crew. The proviso players produce a play in the spring and the fall. Auditions are held eight to ten weeks before each play, and the time commitment increases for members of cast and crew leading up to and through the play performances.

    This club is for students who have competed in math competitions two or more years. Math teams compete with other schools. Practices are held to prepare for contests.

    MULTICULTURAL CLUB

    This club’s mission is to create awareness of the cultures, heritages and traditions of cultures of those different than one’s own, as well as to provide opportunities for those traditions and beliefs to be presented and enjoyed in our school communities.  Club members see themselves as GLOBAL CITIZENS.

    National Honors Society

     The N.H.S. is an organization that recognizes achievement in scholarship, leadership, service, and character among juniors and seniors. Membership is an honor, not a right, and is granted to those elected by a five-member faculty council. NHS spirit projects include breakfast with Santa.

    Newspaper

    The Pirate Post is a student newspaper run by students at Proviso East. The school newspaper is an extracurricular activity. The school newspaper sparks and sustains a youth media platform. When student understand the role that the school paper plays in the daily life of the school, the student will develop a sense of the newsworthiness of stories in the context of other scholastic publication.

    Pirateers

    Members of this dance pom-pom squad are selecte4d through an audition process. The Pirateers represent Proviso East at sporting events, school activities, and other venues throughout the year.

    Robotics Club

    Robotics is a team-oriented competitive club in which students work together to build robots and program them to compete in events against teams from other schools. Students work with teams of 4 or 5, each of whom plays a special role in designing, building, and handling the robot. No previous robotics experience is necessary.

    SADD

    SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) is a nation-wide service club.  Its goal is to remind students to always make the right decisions.  SADD Club accomplishes this goal through a variety of activities.  Some examples are:  every year the last week of October is Red Ribbon Week.  SADD Club decorates the school with red ribbons.

    Speech

    Speech Team provides students with opportunities in public speaking, acting, and oral interpretation. Students learn the fundamentals of oral communication and prepare, practice, including public speaking, interpretation, short story, verse, radio, acting, original writing, and debate.

    Yearbook

     

    The yearbook club consists of students in grades 9-12 that meet to create the Proviso East yearbook.  There are many different jobs available to students including editors and photographers.  The club also plans events and fundraisers to raise money for the purchase of yearbooks.  Everyone is eligible to participate in the yearbook club.

    Raza Unida

    The Raza Unida Club is a space where students can come and learn about, appreciate, and celebrate the Hispanic culture! Students will complete art projects, cook food, and participate in other activities to enhance their knowledge of the culture. No need to know how to speak Spanish, all ages and abilities welcome!
