The N.H.S. is an organization that recognizes achievement in scholarship, leadership, service, and character among juniors and seniors. Membership is an honor, not a right, and is granted to those elected by a five-member faculty council. NHS spirit projects include breakfast with Santa.
The National Honor Society had the privilege of having Shaka King (director/producer/screen play writer of Judas and the Black Messiah) join us for a Q and A session.
The National Honor Society Breakfast with Santa – December 4, 2021
On Saturday, December 4, 2021 the members of the National Honor Society at Proviso East held their annual Breakfast with Santa event for the community. Over 35 families came to the event, put on by the National Honor Society, with help from Ms. Johnson and the NJROTC, and Chef Morris’ Culinary Club. Families enjoyed a free pancake breakfast, arts and crafts, story time, a visit from Santa, and much more. Over 50 student volunteers helped to serve over 150 breakfasts as well as gave away over 70 bags of toys and books to children. The morning was filled with festive cheer and was a great beginning to the 2021 holiday season!
Congratulations to the 38 newly inducted members of the Proviso East High School chapter of The National Honor Society! In addition to a virtual induction ceremony, which can be seen HERE, new members and senior members were able to stop by the school to pick up their gifts, including a certificate and pin for the new inductees. Below are some pictures from that small event, as well as the names of the new inductees and all Class of 2021 members. Congratulations again!
With the pandemic, the annual Breakfast with Santa converted to a drive-thru event with recorded readings by Santa and our members available on YouTube!
