    I want to take this opportunity to thank you again for your extraordinary support and understanding over the past several weeks, as we work together to protect our PTHS D209 school community. This weekend the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) provided school districts with updates regarding efforts for continuity of education, nutritional services, and other related services. We want to assure you that we are staying up to date with the latest COVID-19 information available from state government, Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The situation is fluid with frequent changes which we are addressing together as a school community. Below you will find updates with operational functions to ensure unity of purpose and effective operations for our district.

    Thank you for your extraordinary support and understanding over the past several days, as we have worked together to protect our PTHS D209 community during the growing coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. To further safeguard Illinois from the spread of the virus, Governor JB Pritzker has declared mandatory school closures for all public and private K-12 schools.

  • Coronavirus Update School Closures

    After careful consideration of information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) regarding social distancing and the support of preventative measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus in our community, we are closing schools beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 with a tentative return date of Monday, March 30, 2020. Please note that this timeframe includes Spring Break, which is scheduled from Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27, 2020.

    We are writing to update you on the evolving heath issue of the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and the district’s efforts to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), risk to the U.S. public is considered low at this time. Although we have no confirmed cases of coronavirus in PTHS D209, please note that, as we do in all health-related cases, we will remain alert on this issue while continuing to follow proper health and safety precautions from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and CDC.

  • PTHS D209 Launches New Mobile App

    The latest news and information from PTHS D209 will soon be available on smartphones and mobile devices with a new Mobile App launching on Tuesday, February 4, 2020. The PTHS D209 Mobile App will launch on the same day as Bring Your Parent to School Day. PTHS D209 district staff will be at each school during Bring Your Parents to School Day ready to assist parents with downloading the new Mobile App or with any questions they may have about staying connected to PTHS D209.

  • D209 Says Goodbye to Financial Oversight Panel After 10 Years of Service

    PTHS D209 announced during its December joint school board meeting that, after ten years, the Financial Oversight Panel will officially dissolve on December 31, 2019. The Financial Oversight Panel was appointed by the Illinois State Board of Education in 2008 to help the district achieve financial stability. Since then, the strong partnership between the Board of Education, Superintendent, and the Financial Oversight Panel has positioned PTHS D209 with a solid financial future. The financial structure put in place has given the district the capacity to further invest in instruction, infrastructure, and the capital needs of our schools.

    The Proviso Township High Schools District 209 (PTHS D209) Facility Master Plan (FMP) was developed through a collaborative process that provides a long-term framework for the future development of our educational facilities and funding needs driven by equity, empowerment, and excellence.

  • PTHS D209 Selective Enrollment Application Now Open!

    On September 10, 2019, the PTHS D209 Board of Education, approved the expansion of the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) within Proviso East and Proviso West High Schools, replicating the Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy (PMSA) model starting in the 2020 – 2021 school year. PMSA has made remarkable academic progress within the last few years earning several accolades which include a 2018 National Blue-Ribbon School of Excellence designation along with a distinction from Chicago Magazine as one of the best schools in suburban Cook County in the last three years.

  • D209 Students Start School Year With New Laptops / Los Estudiantes del D209 Comienzan el Año con Computadoras Portatiles Nuevas

    The PTHS D209 Technology Department welcomed students to the 2019-2020 school year with an HP laptop for educational use at school and at home. Laptop distribution was a huge success thanks to the hard work of the Technology Department.
