Manufacturing Day - October 6, 2023
Happy National Manufacturing Month! On October 6th, the Proviso West manufacturing students, under the guidance of their instructor, Ms. Senase, embarked on an enlightening journey to celebrate National Manufacturing Day. The 63 students were granted an exclusive look into the inner workings of Principal Manufacturing Corporation and Dynamic Manufacturing, witnessing firsthand the intricate processes behind CNC machining, stamping, injection molding, and more. Moreover, they were privy to valuable insights about potential career paths, spanning supply chain management, engineering, assembly, machinery maintenance, and machining.
A heartfelt appreciation goes to companies and their teams for graciously welcoming these young minds and imparting crucial knowledge about local post-secondary opportunities. Kudos to all involved in fostering a brighter future in manufacturing!

Apprenticeship Signing Event
Brenda Guerrero and Aaron Lee, members of the Class of 2022 at Proviso West High School, were recently awarded apprenticeships through The Technology and Manufacturing Association and Principal Manufacturing Corporation in Broadview, IL. They both will receive a FULLY paid education while beginning their careers on their chosen paths. Brenda will receive training as a CNC apprentice, and Aaron will receive training as a tool and die maker. These two students will be the first of many to become career-ready through our Advanced Manufacturing Program, showing that District 209 is committed to the continuing growth of manufacturing, preparing our scholars for Tool & Die, Machine Maintenance, Mold Making, and CNC apprenticeship programs and careers. Their accomplishment was celebrated in an apprenticeship commitment signing ceremony in the Advanced Manufacturing lab at Proviso West High School on Monday, April 25, 2022.
