  • New Law Increase Educational Equity for Minority Students

Changing systems that have been in place for generations is never easy. But it's required if we want to see improved outcomes. Sending a great big THANK YOU to our very own Pirate, Senate Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford for her steadfast fight to bring equity to black and brown students. On Monday, Governor JB Pritzker visited Proviso East and signed the Education and Workforce Equity Act into law. THANK YOU to Governor Pritzker for his continued support in breaking down barriers that hinder our students. Check out this writeup about the new law. ”

  • Christmas Toy Drive-Thru

PTHS D209 is proud to partner with multiple community organizations to host the United Front Toy Drive-Thru and spread a bit of holiday happiness to the children in the Proviso footprint. COVID has taken a lot out of all of us and a small act of kindness can be the jolt our families need to restore hope and healing. If you are able, please join me and the PTHS D209 executive leadership team in providing a gift to a child. Together, with Athletic Konnection, 13th Positive, the Salute Foundation, and others – we will turn Proviso into “Whoville” and bring the magic of the holidays to life!

  • Medical heroes work at Proviso East

The health brochure shelves in room 86B at Proviso East High School are empty. A bottle of hand sanitizer sits on the receptionist's desk. To the right, there is a sign that reminds visitors that masks are required. The waiting area of the clinic is quiet and has no patients. The Loyola University Chicago school-based health center was bustling with students in need of health services before COVID-19 changed our way of life.
