Extended Learning Opportunities for Students (ELOS) and Learning Support (Tutoring) at Proviso West 2021 - 2022
ELOS and Learning Support are dedicated time outside of regular instruction to help students succeed and/or extend their learning. They are part of a systematic process to ensure that students receive the additional time and support needed to learn at high levels. Students may choose the ELOS and/or Learning Support time that best fits their schedule unless they are specifically assigned to sessions to make up work or participate in interventions. If students are directed by teachers to attend ELOS or Learning Support to make up/re-take exams or complete missing assignments, failure to attend may forfeit their opportunity to make up the work.
Otherwise, there is no penalty for missing ELOS or Learning Support time.
-
ELOS and Learning Support times are an opportunity for students to:
- Receive small group and/or individualized instruction from teachers
- Makeup exams and classwork
- Engage in enrichment activities
- Meet with counselors & social workers
- Utilize library resources
- Complete college & scholarship applications or do other post-secondary planning
- Prepare for the PSAT and SAT
- Receive targeted instruction to improve literacy and math skills
- Receive other interventions deemed necessary for student success
