D209 update on planning for new school Year

Dear Proviso D209 Families,

I hope that you are all healthy and well. Although our schools are on summer break, please know that District 209 staff members are diligently working on planning and preparing for how we can best serve our school community during these unprecedented times. As we prepare for the start of the next school year, we know things will be different than they have been in the past. However, we have hope that we will be able to provide modified versions of in-person academic and extracurricular programming when school starts.

We have been reviewing all guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and Illinois High School Association (IHSA), including guidance that was released last week, related to starting the 2020-2021 school year. Our focus is on providing the best possible educational experience for our students while also adhering to the ISBE, IDPH, and IHSA  guidance and requirements.

Over the next few weeks, we will finalize the planning for providing educational services through a combination of on-campus and remote learning experiences while ensuring that safety measures are in place for staff and students.

While these are challenging times, please know that the well-being of our students, families, and staff is always in our thoughts. We remain committed to our motto of "Nothing but the Best." We hope that you have a healthy, safe, and enjoyable summer!

We are "One Team. One Goal. One Proviso"

Sincerely,

Dan Johnson

Interim Superintendent
