Spanish or French Placement Exam

  • If you have had some, but limited instruction or exposure to Spanish or French you will take a short answer test that covers Level I material, such as the present and simple past tenses along with everyday vocabulary related to self, family and community.  

    If you have had more extensive experience with Spanish or French either through courses or as the language spoken at home, you will be asked to write two paragraphs related to self, family and community.  

    According to your test results, you will be placed accordingly: Level I, Level II or Level II Heritage Speaker, or Level III. 

     

    For the Spanish or French Placement Exam: 

    • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the designated start time; no one will be admitted late to testing 
    • Please bring a pen or pencil 
    • All cell phones must be turned off 
    • Students may leave when they are done
