Math and Science Academy Admissions Information

 

MSA Admissions Step #0: Read

• Proviso Township High Schools (PTHS) Math & Science Academy (MSA) Program Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)/Preguntas Frecuentes.

MSA Admissions Step #1: Apply

• Apply to the Math and Science Academies (MSA) of Proviso Township High Schools at https://pths209il.scriborder.com/
• All public school applicants will need their 9-digit state identification number (this is NOT your local ID from your school).
  • If you currently attend a public school, your school will provide this to you.
  • If you are a private school student, or home-schooled this will not apply to you.
• The Admissions window closes December 19, 2025 @ 11:59 p.m.
• All 8th graders are encouraged to apply.
• PTHS 209 must receive your online application within the admissions window to be considered for the MSA program.

MSA Admissions Step #2: Testing

• All applicants must take a Math and Reading assessment. For the 2025 application, the test will be the PreACT9.

• Students must also take the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT3).

• All Middle Schools in Proviso Township or Proviso Foundation School (see list below) will provide these tests to students and communicate testing dates to families/students.

• Any 8th grade student who currently attends a private school or is home-schooled whose permanent residence is within the PTHS D209 boundaries; and any 8th grade student who currently attends a middle school that is out of district, but whose permanent residence will be within the PTHS D209 boundaries by the start the upcoming school year – Students must register for one of the four testing dates listed below by clicking the link for their preferred date. 

 

MSA Admissions Step #3: Transcript

• The application process includes an audit of the applicant’s 7th grade transcript. During 'Step #1: Apply', all applicants are asked permission for PTHS to contact their Middle School to receive a student’s official transcript. Proviso will do this on behalf of all applicants once the application window closes on December 19, 2025 @ 11:59 p.m.
• PTHS has spoken with all Middle Schools in Proviso Township or Proviso Foundation School (see list below) in preparation for the admissions process.

• All private school students are encouraged to speak with their school principal and/or registrar to ensure they are aware of this step because Proviso will not request the transcript on the behalf of applicants. Applicants must upload a transcribe to the application portal.
