28 Inducted Into Proviso West National Honor Society

April 25, 2016 02:30 PM
Twenty-eight new members were inducted into the Proviso West High School National Honor Society (NHS) at its spring ceremony on April 14.
The ceremony was conducted in front of a packed Proviso West Little Theater and included Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart, superintendent of District 209. It featured the inductees signing their membership pledge and receiving their membership card and a rose after being reminded of a member’s main qualities, including scholarship, leadership, service, and character, by the Society’s student leadership.
To be inducted into the National Honor Society, a student, who is either a current sophomore, junior, or senior, needs to have at least four semesters in which they earn a grade point average of at least 3.0 of a possible 4.0. Eligible students also must demonstrate excellence in the four qualities of members. Based on this criteria, the Faculty Council reviews and selects candidates for National Honor Society membership.
