February 28, 2014 02:40 PM
Mark Martinez had a few words of advice for area eighth-graders who are preparing to attend Proviso West High School next school year.

"This school has it all," said Mark, a Proviso West junior. "The teachers are ready to help you. High school can be the best years of your life. All it takes is the right attitude."

Mark, a member of the Proviso West Principal’s Leadership Team, was among the speakers at Future Panther Night at Proviso West High School on Tuesday, February 25. The eighth-graders and their families were able to learn more about the school’s academics, support services, activities, and sports teams. They also could begin to think about registering for classes.

The soon-to-be freshmen were able to visit tables set up by Proviso West’s activities and sports teams in the gymnasium. They also could hear presentations from the school’s department heads and meet teachers.

"I’m looking ahead to a good education and opportunities to play sports," Jeremy said after signing up to play on the baseball team.
