Proviso West Welcomes Class of 2020 on Future Panther Night

March 4, 2016 10:50 AM
It was an evening of visiting with future teachers and future classmates, learn about academics and activities, and receiving a big welcome for the Proviso West High School Class of 2020 and their families at Future Panther Night at Proviso West on February 23.
The eighth-graders and their families were able to learn more about the school’s academics, support services, activities, and sports teams. They also could begin to think about registering for classes. The soon-to-be freshmen were able to visit tables set up by Proviso West’s activities and sports teams in the gymnasium. They also could hear presentations from the school’s department heads and meet teachers.
All of this was included with a big welcome from the Proviso West marching band with "Class of 2020" written out in a banner of balloons above and behind them in the school’s gymnasium.
"We wanted our incoming freshmen and their families to walk around and experience Proviso West," said Mr. Oscar Hawthorne, principal at Proviso West. "We want them to put a name with a face. This is about students making connections with each other."
