March 11, 2016 01:10 PM
Prom season will soon be upon us, and students and parents at Proviso West High School got a taste of the fashions that go with it with the school’s second annual fashion show on February 23 in the school’s Little Theater.
Presented as part of Senior Parent Night by the fashion technology class taught by Ms. Connie Jesukaitis, student models showcased prom fashions from Windsor at Yorktown Mall and Black Tie Tux in Glen Ellyn.
Those who attended the Senior Parent Night and the fashion show said that they were excited by what they saw.
"I’m so excited, seeing all the dresses made me think about getting my own dress for prom," said Jennifer Gonzalez, a Proviso West senior.
Ms. Nancy Rivera, mother of two Proviso West students, said that she had ideas of what to do for her students’ prom.
"It was pretty nice," she said. "Now I know where to take my daughter to get her prom dress."
Mr. Oscar Hawthorne, principal at Proviso West, said that the evening, part of a series of events that
evening at Proviso West including Future Panther Night and a science fair, provided an opportunity for students to show their talents in a different field.
"There was choreography, staging, publicity, and original script commentary during the evening featuring student leaders and directors," he said. "I commended the students for a job well done in organizing and producing this event."
