Proviso Township High Schools District 209 and its new superintendent, Dr. Jesse J. Rodríguez, will be the subject of a new report from Spanish-language television station, Univision Chicago (WGBO-TV Channel 66) in the coming weeks.
Ms. Ligia Granados, a reporter and presenter with Univision, and cameraman, Mr. Rafael Varela, recently visited all three schools in District 209 as part of an interview with Dr. Rodríguez. Dr. Rodríguez, a native of Puerto Rico, spoke on the good work being done in the schools by both students and faculty.
"This is One Proviso, and all of our schools are doing great work," Dr. Rodríguez said. "We thank Univision for visiting us and allowing us an opportunity to tell about the great things happening in District 209."
Along with Dr. Rodríguez, also interviewed by Ms. Granados were Mr. Omar Orozco, a science teacher at Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy, and Ms. Haide Noyola, an interpreter at Proviso East High School. In addition, Ms. Granados and Mr. Valera visited classrooms at each school, and Ms. Granados posed for photos with several students and staff members.
Ms. Avelira Gonzalez, human resources coordinator for District 209, helped to facilitate and organize the visit.
An air date for the report has yet to be determined, Ms. Granados said.
