Proviso Township - Proviso West High School (PWHS) will celebrate tradition and pride during its annual Homecoming Week, September 18 through September 23.

The PWHS community has planned a series of activities during Homecoming week to celebrate Panther Pride.

"Our Homecoming Committee led by our dynamic Student Council, worked tirelessly to plan a week full of events that include spirit days, a pep rally, a parade, tailgating, our game, and dance. This is my first Proviso West Homecoming, and I am very excited to join in the festivities!" said Dr. Nia Abdullah, principal at Proviso West.

"The D209 Board of Education is so happy to be a part of the Homecoming celebration that brings out Panther Pride. It is just wonderful to see our Proviso West community come out and join us in support of our Homecoming activities. You just can’t beat that Panther Pride!" said, Mrs. Theresa L. Kelly, D209 Board of Education President.

This year’s Homecoming theme is "City of Lights." "We've decided to have the theme as "City of Lights" because as much as it sounds like Paris, there's a twist on it. Our theme focuses on a downtown vibe. We wanted to give students the opportunity to have a downtown type of atmosphere at Proviso West," said Luigi Cabantog, PWHS students and Student Council President.

The Homecoming Parade is an event that unites students, families, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members across Proviso Township. It is a time to showcase and celebrate Proviso Pride.

"This year it really took a village to make this parade happen and we couldn't ask for a better village supporting us! said Ms. Heather Wickey, teacher at PWHS and Student Council sponsor.

Superintendent Dr. Jesse J. RodrÍguez invites you to attend the Homecoming Parade that will fill the streets with floats, guests of honor, music from the PWHS and Proviso East High School Marching Bands, Homecoming Court, cheers from our student athletes and student organizations.

"The PWHS Homecoming parade and game are traditions and celebrations that bring together students, families, and communities as One Proviso. The PWHS Homecoming Committee and Student Council have done an excellent job in planning a week of events that exhibit Proviso Pride and I look forward to celebrating the festivities with our school community," said Superintendent Dr. Jesse J. RodrÍguez.

Following the parade, the school will host OPRF in a Varsity football game scheduled at 1:00 p.m. During the half-time show, The Marching Band, Cheerleaders, and Dance Team will perform during the half-time show and the Homecoming Court and Homecoming Queen and King will be announced.
