Proviso’s Technology Initiative has taken off under district leadership.
Dr. Jesse J. Rodríguez, superintendent for District 209, is an advocate for student-centered learning and realizes the importance of 21st century skills. Members of the district leadership team, Mrs. Kim Echols, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for District 209, and Ms. Tracy Avant-Bey, director of instructional technology for the district, continue to work in helping teachers and students to get the technology they need to ensure optimal learning.
"There are many Promethean Boards in our buildings," a teacher said. "The district has been very pro-active about asking us what we need for our students, and working hard to get things to us quickly. Our research and mentorship students are going to be able to have access to laptops in the classroom every day this year. There are already computer labs in the buildings, but to have laptops in a room is a real blessing."
The first day of school, administrators were in classrooms asking teachers what they needed, meeting students, and enjoying the excitement of a new school year. The leadership team is committed to making sure Proviso continues to rise.
