Proviso Township High Schools District 209 thanked and honored 87 of its faculty and staff – including 14 who are retiring – at the annual Staff Retirement and Recognition Dinner on May 9 at Gibson’s Bar and Steakhouse in Oak Brook.
The faculty and staff members were celebrated at the special dinner for their extraordinary contributions to the district. They included 23 employees who have served in the district for at least 15 years, 11 who earned a graduate degree during the past year, and 43 faculty and staff members who made a special contribution and effort to the district and its schools during the 2013-14 school year.
"This is a special time for you and your accomplishments," said Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart, superintendent of District 209.
Mr. Daniel J. Adams, president of the District 209 Board of Education, said that the faculty and staff being honored are appreciated.
"You are the backbone of our district, and your hard work and dedication make possible the excellence that takes place in our schools on a daily basis," he said. "Please know that we appreciate everything you do for our students and our schools."
In addition, Ms. Karen Jones, a secretary at Proviso West High School for 16 years, was remembered. Ms. Jones passed away in June 2013.
