It is important that parents and students in Proviso Township High Schools District 209 know what to expect if there is an emergency school closing.

If weather or any other circumstances keep District 209 from holding school on any given day, parents will receive an automated phone call and email from the District. School closing information will also be found prominently placed on the District 209 website (www.pths209.org), on our Twitter account (www.twitter.com/pths209), on local television and radio stations, and at www.emergencyclosings.com.

Every effort is made to have a decision on whether or not to close schools by 5:30 a.m. While the District determines if schools should be closed due to weather or any other reason, the decision to send a child to school in any circumstance is always ultimately the choice of the parent. Parents who feel it is unsafe for their child to attend, even if school is open, should keep their child home that day and call the school office to notify the school of this decision.

It is important that all parents keep their contact information updated. If you think your contact information may need to be updated, please contact your student’s school office during regular school hours.
