Proviso Township High Schools District 209 (PTHS D.209) celebrated all teachers the first week of May during Teacher Appreciation week.
On Monday, May 1, 2017, Superintendent of District 209 Jesse J. Rodriguez, Ph.D., began thecelebrations by hosting a Teacher’s Breakfast at all buildings during PLC. Central Services administrators met with teachers at the schools and thanked them for their dedication and service to the school community. "I appreciate your commitment and contribution to the growth, development, and academic success of our students. Our primary goal at PTHS D.209 is to enhance academic achievement and we will continue to accomplish this as One Proviso," said Dr. Rodriguez.
Each school held different activities throughout the week to honor their teachers.
45Teachers at Proviso East were presented with flowers, gifts, and were thanked by many administrators and students.
PMSA teachers were invited to a luncheon sponsored by the PTO, received appreciation gifts in their mailboxes, and attended a luncheon sponsored by PMSA administration.
The Proviso West National Honor Society showed appreciation to Proviso West teachers with some handmade goodies. Department Chairs surprised teachers with personalized notebooks, plants the students have grown from the student garden, and some edible treats as well. Students also wrote ‘thank you’ cards that were placed in teacher mailboxes. Some of the messages included:
"Thank you for dealing with me. I appreciate you so much!"
"I just want to thank you so much for being an awesome teacher. Your wisdom has taught me so much and it makes me want to better myself as a person. "
"Thank you for being what a teacher should be. Believe it or not, you have taught me a lot of things that I’ve struggled with in the past."
"Our teachers at Proviso West are instrumental to our success.  I cannot thank them enough for the work they do to make sure that our students learn.  The ways teachers show that they believe in and the ways they make connections with students is vital to student achievement," said Mr. Joseph Kosina, assistant principal of Proviso West.
Thank you, Teachers!
