The counseling department at Proviso West is united in its mission to guide the creation of students’ postsecondary plans, and is committed to identifying sources of funding that meet the needs of all graduates, regardless of citizenship status or the ability to complete the FAFSA.

Expectations for student preparedness are on the rise, and the team at Proviso West is eager to ensure that students graduate with confidence in their postsecondary path as well as the means to achieve their goals.  Counselors are working one-on-one with students to define their goals and update plans for postsecondary enrollment in career training programs or colleges that meet students’ needs.

For the fourth consecutive year, the College & Career Center at Proviso West will be open during the month of October and November from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. for College Application and FAFSA Completion Workshops. No appointment is necessary and we encourage families to join us on the following dates:

October 24
October 31
November 7
November 14
November 21

Members of the counseling team will be joined by partners from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission and Introspect Youth Services to assist families one-on-one with the completion of college applications and their FAFSA. All eligible seniors at Proviso West are required to complete their FAFSA by November 21st. Students are encouraged to bring their parent/guardian as well as the following documentation to the FAFSA Workshop:
