Proviso East High School celebrated its first annual Baccalaureate Ceremony on May 16, 2017. In addition to the traditional commencement ceremony with its cap and gown and congratulatory handshakes, speeches, and recognition of outstanding achievements, most high schools, colleges and universities also have baccalaureate ceremonies.

PTHS D.209 celebrated a week of Latino culture throughout the week of May 2nd to May 5th. Faculty, staff, and students showcased the culture, experiences, achievements, and traditions of Latino heritage through dance, art, and music.

This year’s Spanish Honor Society induction took place on May 3, 2017 at Proviso West High School. Fourteen members were inducted this year all of which needed 3 semesters of Spanish, with a 3.5 or higher and a 3.0 unweighted G.P.A overall to qualify. This year’s induction ceremony included a welcome by our very own Superintendent, Dr. Jesse J. Rodriguez and Assistant Principal, Joseph Kosina who both welcomed parents and students.

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 (PTHS D.209) celebrated all teachers the first week of May during Teacher Appreciation week. On Monday, May 1, 2017, Superintendent of District 209 Jesse J. Rodriguez, Ph.D., began the celebrations by hosting a Teacher’s Breakfast at all buildings during PLC.

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 (PTHS D.209) observed Administrative Professionals’ Day on April 26, 2017 to honor administrative personnel for their importance to the organization. The District 209 Superintendent Jesse J. Rodriguez, Ph.D., celebrated the day by inviting all PTHS D.209 administrative professionals to Central Services for a special lunch.

The 15th Annual Proviso West NJROTC Military Ball was held on April 13, 2017, at the Ashton Place in Willowbrook. The Proviso West NJROTC Military Ball is an annual gala affair that is planned and attended by the cadets. Male cadets dress in formal uniforms and female cadets may wear a formal dress. Cadets enjoy coming together as a team to celebrate ancient naval customs and traditions.

Superintendent of District 209 Jesse J. Rodriguez, Ph.D., invited community members to the Administration Building on April 20, 2017 to learn about the framework that outlines the long-term strategic plan for District 209. School principals and Central Services administrators also presented school and department plans.
On April 25, 2017 U.S. News & World Report published the 2017 Best High Schools rankings report. Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy (PMSA) continues its trend of accolades as it is named in the 2017 ‘U.S. News Best High Schools Rankings.’ PMSA ranked 32 of 658 Illinois high schools and nationally, at 1,044 awarding the school a Silver medal, climbing up from last year’s Bronze medal.

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 will host its latest edition of Parent University from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Aspire, 1815 South Wolf Road in Hillside.

Proviso Township - On Monday, April 3, 2017 the Illinois State Superintendent of Education, Tony Smith, Ph.D., announced Proviso Township High School District 209 (PTHS D209) as one of ten school districts selected to participate in the first cohort of Illinois’ Competency-Based High School Graduation Requirements Pilot Program.
