Proviso Township High Schools is continuing to work to promote higher achievement by offering Supplemental Educational Services (SES). Supplemental Educational Services are FREE tutoring services. The program offers students extra help in academic subjects such as reading, language arts, and mathematics.​

Proviso West sophomore Mikaela Boyd slipped out of her shoe while she had the ball midway through the fourth quarter of Wednesday's Class 4A regional semifinal against Lyons. Closely guarded by a Lyons defender, she dribbled around with the shoe off for several seconds before kicking the ball out of a dangerous corner. Jasmine Jackson finished the possession with a layup.

Mrs. Beidas and Mr. Wardisiani, two Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy teachers, have been selected to participate in a prestigious summer fellowship to help enhance science education for their classrooms, their school, and fellow teachers in District 209. The Frontiers Fellowship in Physiology is the American Physiological Society’s (APS) flagship program for the professional development of middle and high school science teachers.

Proviso East Alumni and Common Roots Initiative (CRI) founders plan to offer a $1,000.00 scholarship to an eligible Proviso East student and a Proviso East teacher. The extra financial resources are intended to provide financial support for their college and career goals. Common Roots Initiative (CRI) is a non-profit organization that gives financial support to educators and college-bound students.​

PTHS seniors, if you are planning to attend college during the 2012-2013 academic year and would like financial assistance, it is time to prepare your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)—the application for federal, state and college-based financial aid.

Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy students outshined the competition at this year’s Triton College High School Art Competition—demonstrating how students who excel in math and science also excel in the arts.

Proviso East High School students outshined the competition again at this year’s Triton College High School Art Competition. The annual art show features over 700 students from the Triton College area community. Over a dozen Proviso East art students won ribbons in this year’s contest. Students submitted entries in every category including: photography, fiber arts, computer art, ceramics, and photography.​

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) has announced this year’s state scholars—seniors who rank in the top 10 percent in the state of Illinois. The Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy boasts 20 state scholars in this year’s graduating class.

At Proviso East High School, building bridges to success incorporates the community, parents, civic leaders, and the most important element of all—students. This year Proviso East principals are ramping up their efforts to build a coalition with students at the center. The Student Advisory Council was formed to provide feedback to school administration on critical issues impacting the students and the learning environment at Proviso East.

When Proviso West sophomore, Renaldo “Rey” Rodriguez, was just a baby, his family taught him how to speak and communicate through art. His father, who is also an artist, began to draw pictures of animals, food items, and everyday images to help encourage Rey to speak. Little did he know, that would fuel the talent of a young artistic genius. Once Rey began to speak, he began to draw, and the rest is history.
