District 209 (D209) is proud to have a diverse student body and believes in fostering a racially and ethnically diverse educational environment that encourages all students to respect and embrace people from different backgrounds and cultures. Throughout the year, D209 students, faculty, and staff have organized events that highlight and reflect the diversity of our students. The most recent celebration at D209 were the Cinco de Mayo festivities.

On May 12, 2018 PMSA, for a second time, participated in the 2018 Oak Brook Park District’s annual Pink 5K walk/run.

In the fall of 2017, the Board of Education initiated a Facility Master Plan process analyzing the conditions of our school buildings and grounds with the purpose of ensuring that our students are provided with excellent facilities. The development of the plan is being facilitated by the District’s architectural firm, Perkins+Will.

For the past three academic quarters, Proviso East Fine Arts and World Languages Department Chair, Mrs. LaPorte has been leading drawing and painting classes that have been participating in a socially engaging art project to reimagine the old, unused girl’s pool into a new space for student use. The project required students to shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present day life by using a contemporary practice of art and design.

Although it is not unusual to see D209 coaches on campus early on a Saturday morning, on April 14, 2018, they were at the District Office not for practice or a game but instead to attend a special event hosted by Superintendent Rodriguez. Superintendent Rodriguez held the first Coaches Meeting to acknowledge their significant contributions to enhance our athletic programs and empower D209 students.

District 209 is excited to announce a new, more streamlined registration process for returning students for the 2018-2019 school year. The new process features the elimination of virtually all forms, online payment of registration fees, and an extended window during which the early registration fee amount of $150 is available.

Superintendent Rodriguez recognized Social Workers and School Counselors on March 9, 2018 for their dedication to enhancing the well-being of all students by hosting an appreciation luncheon.

Seventy-two Proviso Township High Schools District 209 students were honored at the 2018 Awards for Excellence in Science and Mathematics program held at PMSA on March 7, 2018. Students were nominated by their science and math teachers for displaying excellence in these subjects. The event was sponsored by PTHS D209, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT).
