Proviso East High School has a new principal.
Dr. Patrick Hardy was approved as the new principal at Proviso East by the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Board of Education at its meeting on Tuesday, August 11. He will formally begin at Proviso East on September 1.
He brings more than 18 years of education experience to the position, having taught in the Boston Public Schools and served as principal at Rockford Auburn High School and at Freeport High School. He also was the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for the Freeport Schools. Most recently, he has been a leadership coach with the Network for College Success at the University of Chicago, where his work has focused on training high school principals.
Dr. Hardy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Secondary Education from Xavier University of Louisiana, a Master of Education Degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, and a second Master of Education degree specializing in school administration from Cambridge College in Massachusetts. In addition, he has earned a Doctorate of Ministry specialized in pastoral studies from Andersonville Theological Seminary, and he is currently pursuing a doctorate in education at Capella University.
Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart, superintendent of District 209, said that Dr. Hardy will be able to work well with the staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders and that she expected great things under his leadership.
"He not only brings experience in moving students to academic excellence, he also brings the positive energy that is needed in our District," she said. "I am very excited about his appointment."
