Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart, superintendent of Proviso Township High Schools District 209, recently was honored by the State of Illinois House of Representatives for her service to the District and education.
State Representative Emanuel "Chris" Welch, the former president of the District 209 Board of Education, presented Dr. Collins-Hart with a certificate of recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives at the Board of Education’s regular meeting on February 11 at Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy. The certificate recognized her for her continued years of service to the District and commemorated her for her "effort, dedication, and hard work that led to success." It was signed by Mr. Michael Madigan, Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives.
Mr. Welch, who served on the Board of Education from 2001 to 2013, said that he was proud of having played a role in Dr. Collins-Hart coming to the District in 2008. She recently agreed to a new two-year contract that runs through 2016.
"I think that stability in our school district is so important," Mr. Welch said. "I think that she’s done a wonderful job. Seeing her be successful is a positive sign for the Board and previous boards."
Dr. Collins-Hart said that it was an honor to receive the recognition.
"I appreciate the recognition and being able to continue with Proviso Township High Schools in the work of educating our children," she said. "I look forward to continuing to serve this school district and this community."
