April 12, 2016 03:25 PM
The postseason honors continue to roll in for the Proviso East High School girls’ basketball team.
Mr. Ezra PridGeon, head coach of the Proviso East girls’ basketball team, has been named the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association’s (IBCA) High School Girls Co-Coach of the Year for District 7. He will be honored at the IBCA’s annual Hall of Fame banquet on April 30 at Illinois State University.
The 2015-2016 season was the latest in a series of successful seasons for Mr. PridGeon and the Lady Pirates, who finished with a 27-4 overall record and a regional championship. Their season also included a perfect 12-0 conference record as Proviso East won the West Suburban Conference Gold Division title and the Oswego East Holiday Tournament in December.
"It is outstanding that we have coaches in our schools who are being recognized at the state level," said
Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart, superintendent of District 209. "Coach PridGeon sets a great example, and we are extremely proud of his accomplishments. He is a role model for other coaches and teachers, and he is deserving of the accolades that he receives."
Congratulations, Coach PridGeon!
