Kalin Fisher, a senior guard at Proviso East High School, has been selected to play in the fifth annual South Side vs. West Side Hoops Classic on May 15 at the Ratner Center on the University of Chicago campus.
The all-star game showcases the best seniors in Chicago, according to a letter from Chicago United Ventures, the group organizing the game. The group also said that the game is designed to "carry on a legacy of all of the greats that have passed through" Chicago. Jevon Carter, a Proviso East star and 2014 graduate now attending West Virginia University, played in the 2014 edition of the game.
Kalin said that he considered it a great honor to be selected for the game.
"There are a lot of great players in the state and it’s great to be chosen," he said.
Mr. Tony Valente, principal at Proviso East, said that the school was proud of Kalin.
"Kalin has shown what a true student-athlete is, and demonstrated that he will do well in whatever endeavor he attempts," Mr. Valente said. "We are very proud of him, and I wish him in his future endeavors."
