The Proviso East High School drumline "Hitt Squad" and the PYT Dancers from Proviso East won honors at the T. Williams Divas and Gents Dance and Drumline Competition on March 7 at Percy L. Julian High School in Chicago.
The "Hitt Squad" won first place in the percussion division. Also competing were Rich South High School, Curie High School, the host Julian High School, and community drumlines BlackSteel, Legacy Drumline, and Kaos Drumline.
The PYT Dancers claimed three honors in their portion of the competition, winning first place in the best captain solo and the best stands routine. They also won second place in the field show category. Also competing were the Dancing Dolls from Julian High School, the Majestic Diamonds from Saginaw, Michigan, and the Dynamic Dancing Condorettes from Curie High School.
"Our drumline and PYT Dancers continue to be a source of pride for Proviso East High School," said Mr. Tony Valente, principal at Proviso East. "I congratulate them on their accomplishments, and wish them continued success."
