Proviso East Cheerleaders Win First Place at National Contest

The Proviso East High School cheerleading squad won several awards, including a first place honor, at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Wildcard Classic in Louisville, Kentucky, on February 21.
The team won first place in the Game Time Competition, which included a dance to the school fight song, a time out dance, cheering, and non-tumbling performance. For its efforts, the team brought home three large red megaphones, an NCA champion banner, and an NCA plaque.
Mr. Tony Valente, principal at Proviso East, said that he was proud of the team.

"I think they did an outstanding job," he said. "I’m very proud of the kids and their accomplishments."

The Proviso East cheerleaders are coached by Ms. Launa Mobley, and assisted by Ms. Devon PridGeon and Ms. Paulette Burrell.
