April 20, 2012 09:00 AM
"A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops."
Forest Park, IL...Each year school districts across the country use the first week in May as an opportunity to honor teachers for their contributions to education. This year, National Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated from May 7th-May 11th, and PTHS 209 is joining the celebration.
"We believe that teaching is one of the most important professions of all time," said PTHS 209 superintendent, Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart.
"Students thrive and achieve their dreams with the help of excellent teachers. A week is not nearly enough time to express our gratitude, but we are going to honor teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. We celebrate them and want to make sure that they know how much we value their incredible hard work and dedication to the students of District 209."
Each year during National Teacher Appreciation Week, PTHS 209 works to express gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding work that Proviso teachers do each day. This year, during Teacher Appreciation Week, District 209 will host a "snack and chat party" to celebrate the teachers of each school.
Dr. Collins-Hart will visit Proviso East, Proviso West, and PMSA during faculty and staff lunch hour. In addition, individual school activities will be held throughout the week to honor PTHS teachers.
Ways you can help celebrate PTHS teachers:
· Read notes of gratitude for PTHS teachers from the community
· Write or email a note of appreciation for a PTHS teacher
· Offer your favorite PTHS teacher a small reward for his/her awesome dedication.
