PMSA Choir Brings the Holiday Cheer
December 20, 2013 02:40 PM
It was cold outside, but the Proviso Math and Science Academy choir brought a little holiday warmth to the school with short holiday concerts on Monday, December 16.
Led by Mr. Matthew Brown, PMSA choir director, the students performed traditional and more recent Christmas songs such as "Sleigh Ride," "Carol of the Bells," and "Baby It’s Cold Outside" for school and district workers based in their building in the school’s lobby. It was the sixth year that PMSA choir students have performed the holiday music in what has become a tradition for the last full day of classes before semester final exams.
"We go with the traditional favorites and we had a student request ‘Away in a Manger,’" Mr. Brown said. "We always do ‘Sleigh Ride.’"
The students had learned and performed the songs for their winter concert on December 5, and split the 129 students enrolled in choir between second and third periods, Mr. Brown said.
