Students at Proviso Math and Science Academy showed their school spirit the last week of October during the school’s Spirit Week.
The Homecoming week was marked with a week of theme days in which students dressed according to the theme of the day. Themes ranged from 80s Day, where they dressed in attire from the 1980s, to Cowboy Day, where students could dress in Western clothing.
The week ended with pep rallies in the school’s auditorium in which students wore colors corresponding to their class (seniors in the school colors of purple and black, juniors in red, sophomores in blue, and freshmen in green). The rallies featured cheers by each class, performances from the school band,
and individual student acts.
During the junior-senior rally, seniors Oscar Garcia and Aryana Johnson were crowned Homecoming King and Queen, respectively. Theodore Oronsaye was named Homecoming Prince, while Tamari Wilson was named Homecoming Princess.
"Homecoming is a great time for our school to come together and celebrate who we are as a school," said Dr. Bessie Karvelas, principal at PMSA. "We have much to celebrate, and we are proud of what we do as a school."
