Hillside, IL...Five students at Proviso West High School were recently honored for their art work at the 33rd annual 7th Congressional District Danny K. Davis High School Art Competition at the United Center.

The five students included Ashlee Wright, a senior who was awarded fourth place out of 85 entries in the contest. For her efforts, she received a $100 savings bond, six passes to the Art Institute of Chicago, two tickets to a Chicago Bulls game, and an award certificate.

Also recognized were Totiana Sudduth, senior; Diana Duarte, senior; Anahi Michel, junior; and Eduardo Hulcochea, senior. They received a participation certificate and passes to local Chicago museums.

Dr. Roudell Kirkwood, principal at Proviso West, said that he also was proud of the students.

"These students are extremely talented and they deserve the honors that they receive," he said. "They exhibit some of the best work that we have to offer in our school district. I am proud of our students, and I appreciate our teacher going the extra mile to provide their work additional exposure through the art show."
