Forest Park, IL...Mrs. Beidas and Mr. Wardisiani, two Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy teachers, have been selected to participate in a prestigious summer fellowship to help enhance science education for their classrooms, their school, and fellow teachers in District 209.
The Frontiers Fellowship in Physiology is the American Physiological Society’s (APS) flagship program for the professional development of middle and high school science teachers. The program’s main goals are to provide methods and materials that promote the integration of inquiry, equity, and technology into the classrooms and into professional development programs. The program also builds ongoing working relationships between research scientists and high school teachers through laboratory research, interactive workshops and online communications. It helps to increase teachers' skills in developing, assessing, and utilizing web-based curricular materials and resources. Those skills and resources are usually brought back to participants’ home school to help enhance programming.
In each program, teachers and physiologists from across the country work collaboratively to improve science education at middle and high school levels. Congratulations, Mrs. Beidas and Mr. Wardisiani! You are a vital part of Proviso Rising.
