Forest Park, IL...Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy recently received the Best Buy Teach@15 Award which affords the school a $1,000 gift card from BEST BUY to purchase new technology and equipment.

"At Best Buy, we take our commitment to our communities seriously," said Best Buy’s Senior Vice President of Communications, Paula Prahl. "We know that a strong, healthy community is a great place to live and work. The strength of the community is dependent on the strength of its schools. By accepting this award, the school and administrators agree to purchase products to be used by and to benefit the students in the classroom."

Teach@15 is a feature of Best Buy’s philanthropic focus on teens. It represents their commitment to fuel teen’s power to create positive change in their communities. PMSA was one of three schools to receive a gift card from the Teach@15 Awards. The funds have already been used to purchase equipment for PMSA’s digital arts classes.

"The Best Buy gift card has already been used to help engage our students and enhance our classrooms," said PMSA principal, Mrs. Echols. "We now have brand new equipment to support our teachers and our students in our digital imaging classes. We certainly appreciate the contribution from Best Buy. This gift is at the heart of what community partnerships are all about."

Echols says she hopes to continue to expand community partnerships that support and promote student success. Currently the school is seeking additional funding to assist with upgrading computers, providing students with access to IPADS, Kindles, Laptops, cameras, and more.
