Each year the Proviso Township High Schools Board of Education works in partnership with WSSS to honor grandparents across the Proviso community. Grandparents’ Day is designed to honor and show appreciation for all of the senior citizens and grandparents of Proviso Township and the surrounding areas. It is a day of fun, support information, and relaxation.
"This is one of our favorite events of the year," said PTHS Board President, Emanuel "Chris" Welch. "This is the day where we work to serve, honor, and appreciate the elderly population of our communities for their values, for their strength, and for the contributions they’ve made to our students, our schools, and society as whole."
Proviso grandparents are being treated to lunch by District 209 sponsor, ARAMARK. Health screenings will be offered by the schools’ two health center operatives and event sponsors, Loyola School of Nursing and Circle Family Health Care Network. In addition to lunch and healthcare support, participants will also enjoy a game of party bingo, door prizes, cash giveaways, steppers music, student entertainment, and more. WSSS staff will also share information about services and assistance available to grandparents who are raising grandchildren.
Grandparents’ Day is a part of the Board of Education’s community support and outreach initiatives. West Suburban Senior Services has been assisting senior citizens in the near West Cook County suburbs township for over 30 years. To learn more about WSSS, please click here http://www.wsseniors.org/
