Proviso West Students Win Big at Elmhurst Art Show

Hillside...Proviso West’s art students outshined the competition again this year at the 13th Annual Elmhurst College High School Art Exhibit.

Hundreds of works were submitted by 10 high schools in every medium: painting, print, sculpture, video and computer art, photography, and more. Seven Proviso West art students took home awards. One student also won a $2,000 scholarship to attend Elmhurst College.

Proviso West’s Tashianna Walton received a Ribbon of Distinction for her scratchboard collage. Sahori Espinosa won the Ribbon of Honors for her large coil pot. Favian Espino also won the Ribbon of Honors for his Durer’s Grid. Marycruz Zepeda earned the Ribbon of Excellence for her slab pot. Desiree Smith also won a Ribbon of Excellence for her Mondrian Mosaic. Judge’s Choice went to Proviso West’s Charles Scott for his Durer’s Grid. Tierra Gross won the Special Award Ribbon for her slab pot. That ribbon also affords Tierra a $2,000 scholarship to attend Elmhurst College as an art major.
