Forest Park, IL... Are you a PTHS 209 high school junior? If tomorrow happened to be the first day of college, do you know if you're academically ready? What are your grades in math and English courses? Do you think that you might need a review in certain areas? If so, please mark your calendars for Triton College’s early assessment days on Nov. 6 and Nov 8.
Triton College, in partnership with local school districts, is hosting Early Assessment Day for high school juniors and their parents to increase college preparation and access.
During this event students will have the opportunity to assess their college readiness in math and English by using the COMPASS placement test, developed by ACT Inc.
Participation in this early assessment program during the junior year will give students the opportunity to gain insight into areas of strengths and weaknesses. Based on the assessment results, students will have the opportunity to adjust the senior year schedule to either incorporate more challenging courses to enhance their current abilities or select courses that will provide a review of necessary skills.
Parents of students are also invited to attend sessions on college readiness and transition that include information on financial aid, scholarships and college/university selection.
This service is free of charge! Students who participate in the program are not asked to commit to Triton College for their postsecondary education. Triton College will work with the students on the day the tests are taken to review test scores and to discuss areas for improvement. Triton College will also communicate test results with PTHS 209 guidance counselors so that an academic plan can be created for the following year to address areas that require growth.
Upon completion of the Early Assessment Day, students and parents should have a better understanding of areas of academic strengths and challenges, be able to discuss with a counselor the most appropriate courses for the senior year, possess tools designed to support success in college and possess tools designed to assist in the college selection process.
Success comes to those who prepare for tomorrow, today. For more information about Triton College’s Early Assessment Day please call (708) 456-0300, Ext. 3220.
