Forest Park, IL... Proviso Township High Schools District 209 will have mandatory state testing on April 22nd and April 23rd.
“Students across the nation take standardized tests each spring to evaluate their knowledge at their grade levels,” said PTHS 209 Superintendent Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart. “It is important for parents to be involved with these dates because with planning, parents can help their students succeed.”
Parents can lend students a hand by ensuring that students eat a balanced dinner before test day, and a good breakfast on test day. It’s also important for students to get a good night’s sleep and be on time or even early to school on test day. Also, it helps for parents to talk to their children about the test and its importance.
Students will test according to their earned classification in school. All students who are testing should report to their assigned testing locations by 8:00 am. It is important to note that cell phones and other electronic devices cannot be used in the testing areas and should be left at home or in students’ lockers.
PTHS 209 Juniors will test on both days (Apr 22nd & Apr 23rd). Day 1 of the Prairie State Achievement Exam for juniors will be the ACT with Writing. Day 2 of the Prairie State Achievement Exam consists of ISBE-developed Science, WorkKeys Applied Math, and WorkKeys Reading for Information tests. Juniors taking the PSAE will be dismissed at the end of testing on both days.
PTHS 209 Freshmen and sophomores will only participate on Day 1 of testing (Apr 22nd). Sophomores will take the PLAN and the freshmen will take the EXPLORE. Following the EXPLORE/PLAN testing period, freshmen and sophomores will follow a modified schedule with dismissal at 3:15 pm.
All students must have two #2 pencils and a calculator.
Good Luck Students!
