February 10, 2012 09:30 AM
Forest Park, IL...PTHS seniors, if you are planning to attend college during the 2012-2013 academic year and would like financial assistance, it is time to prepare your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)—the application for federal, state and college-based financial aid.

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 has created a scholarship resource section on to help students and parents locate college funding sources and higher education information. Each school also has counselors who are ready and available to help students apply for aid, college acceptance, and scholarships.

At Proviso East High School the Career Center is open Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. On Mondays, Proviso East’s Career Center is open from 10:50 am to 3:15 pm for students to get FAFSA and college application help. Proviso East will also host a FAFSA workshop in the Career Center on Wednesday, February 15th at 6:30 p.m. At PMSA, students and parents can make an appointment with school counselors to get FAFSA help. Proviso West High School holds FAFSA workshops in their Career Center (Room D103) for students and parents every other Monday from 10:50 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. Proviso West’s next FAFSA workshop is scheduled for Monday, February 27th.

FAFSA forms are usually completed for college-bound high school seniors and their parents. It is important to submit the FAFSA before the college’s priority date as some financial aid is awarded first-come first-serve. To determine the priority date at a college, contact your prospective college or university’s financial aid office.

Parents and students can begin their financial aid search by visiting the FAFSA website at or by visiting PTHS 209’s scholarship resource link here.
