February 1, 2013 09:05 AM
Forest Park, IL...The Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Board of Education will host a series of community forums on school improvement in February in District 209 Schools.
Parents, students, community members and other stakeholders in the district will get a chance to hear from district administrators on school improvement efforts and initiatives in the district. Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart, superintendent, said that the beginning of the session will have each principal and his or her school improvement team as well as faculty and staff representatives speak about their efforts in school improvement and student achievement. There will be a question/answer/discussion period.
The forums follow a call by Board members at its December 11 meeting for the district and the Board of Education to host the meetings to solicit public input and to provide information to stakeholders.
"These meetings will allow us to meet directly with the public and get their opinions on important issues facing PTHS District 209," said Dan Adams, President of the Board of Education.
The meetings will take place at the following locations:
- Proviso West High School, 4701 West Harrison Street in Hillside, at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 4.
- Proviso East High School, 807 South First Avenue in Maywood, at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 11.
- Proviso Math and Science Academy, 8601 West Roosevelt Road in Forest Park, at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 25.
The town-hall-style meetings are in addition to the Board of Education’s regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, at Proviso Math and Science Academy.
